Subspace / Subdrop

D/ssubspace / subdrop

Subspace サブスペース is a state of awareness that arises on the submitting (Sub) side, close to a trip or a trance.

Subdrop サブドロップ is the state of being dropped out of that space with a plop, of being let go.

Overview

Subspace has the feel of “flying,” much like a runner’s high; it can also be put as “getting in the zone.” Being dominated is itself felt as ease and as love, and taking it for happiness makes the body react on its own, which leads on to pleasure.

Put in terms of height, it goes like this.

  • The stratosphere ── around here is Subspace
  • Above the clouds ── feels amazing
  • The sky ── feels good
  • The ground ── ordinary
  • Underground ── hard going

Subdrop comes after being played with happily, when you are then treated curtly, or when it feels as if “there may not be a next time.” Fear of being left behind swells into bad imaginings, and it can turn into a state no different from depression: cannot sleep, cannot eat, cannot speak. It comes as the rebound of happiness, and it comes as the burst of feeling unattended to. Bad trips are in it too.

How the words are taken

Trip, drop, trance, space, flying, coming, upper, downer. Every one of these is a word for “a space, and the state of moving inside it,” and none of them carries good or bad. Words of feeling are kept out because some people have a habit of sinking into the bad, and some, whose masochism runs too strong, hate happiness as fear or as unease.

Neither Subspace nor Subdrop is something you steer yourself; they come out of you, or they are drawn out of you. Being shoved into the space by force is what Subspace is at bottom, and the state of being dropped with a plop, of being let go, is Subdrop. That is why putting “rise” as the opposite of “drop” does not sit right.
